Salad Dressing

Jean Butlers Salad Dressing on Romaine
There is never a shortage of assorted salad dressings in our refrigerator door. That makes the prospect of actually making my own salad dressing seem like a moot point. An effort that will have a minimal return on my investment of time and energies. Mind changed! I'm a believer!
This salad dressing took maybe 5 minutes to assemble, and that was only because I was trying to make the measurements exact. I really liked the subtle ketchup taste, and the chili sauce gave it enough warmth to seem meaty. For a salad dressing. Here is the recipe, in this iteration I used mostly balsamic (per Jean's recommendation), and Siracha sauce for the Chili sauce...because...Siracha. Enjoy!

Ingredients:

4 TBSP lemon juice or part vinegar (balsamic is nice)
1.5 TBSP turbinado sugar
1 TSP (scant) Lowry's season salt
pinch of dry mustard, to taste
1 TSP dry basil (of course fresh would be nicer)
1 TSP dry dill weed
1 TSP dry tarragon
about 1/4 TSP coarse black pepper (or to taste)
a dash of worcestershire sauce
2 TSP tomato catsup
2 TSP chili sauce (not "chile") ("homemade" is good)
2/3 cup good olive oil

Directions:

Combine ingredients. Correct seasoning to taste.
Keep chilled, and stir well before serving.
